Dr. Joseph Wysocki — Provost

Dr. Joseph Wysocki received his B.A. in Political Science and Economics at Belmont Abbey College. He went on to receive his M.A. and Ph.D in Political Science at Baylor University focusing on Political Philosophy and American Politics. Since 2010 he has taught at Belmont Abbey College. During his tenure, he has served at the Chair of the Government Department, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dean of the Honors College. He currently serves as Provost. While he is interested in all of the great books in the Honors Curriculum, his primary areas of expertise include the thought of Alexis de Tocqueville, the American Founding, and ancient Political Philosophy. He is deeply invested in the classical education renewal and served on the Council of Scholars for the American Council of Liberal Education and the School Leadership Committee that helped transition his parish school, St. Michael’s, into a classical academy. He lives in Gastonia, NC with his wife Jeanne and his six children.
