“Heaven and earth may change, but God’s mercy will never be exhausted.”
(Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 72)
We have seen our world change so much in recent years. Wars, famines, and many other evils bring with them unpredictability and fear. Do you ever find yourself wondering what more could possibly happen?
St. Maria Faustina Kowalska likely felt much the same way living in Poland in the 1930s, the effects of World War I ever-present in her life. St. Faustina belonged to the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. She came from a humble background and lacked formal education. While she took on the lowliest of tasks in her convent, St. Faustina received the greatest revelations from God, including the prayers for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
“I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy” (687).
During these turbulent times, we must trust all the more in God’s mercy. Changes in our lives and across the globe can tempt our hearts to fear and resentment, but there is a better path. We can choose to trust in God’s mercy and love for us.
