Acquire Access to Rare Books of History by supporting the Abbot Vincent Taylor Library
The Abbot Vincent Taylor Library provides the Abbey community with the technology and tools necessary to be successful and helps students access and retrieve the information they need. Currently library provides the more than 150,000 print books, 400,000 e-books, and over 100 databases, and access to tools such as Alexandria and OneSearch allowing our students to access documents from across the world!
Also the Library has over 13,000 rare books and manuscripts comprised of mostly theological, historical, and literary works, and much of it was chosen by the first monks of Belmont Abbey, during their study in Rome.
This Founders’ Day, the library is fundraising to acquire display-sized editions of major works such as the Book of Kells and the Lindesfarne Gospels. By displaying these historical works of art, we are sharing the story of how our fellow christians in 800 BC depicted the four gospels with such intricacy, detail, and majesty of illustration and preserving our christian heritage.
