Criminal Justice

This Founders’ Day, you can help the Criminal Justice Department offer real world experience for our future law professionals.

When you make a gift to the Criminal Justice Department today, your gift will provide the necessary support to sponsor the profoundly formative student trip to London to study the English Foundations of American Law. American law derives from the English common law system, so students have the opportunity to explore its origins in situ. Experiences like these are critical to our aspiring law professionals.

And now our Criminal Justices graduates are making an impact in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg county!

Psychology

In accordance with the Benedictine liberal arts tradition, the Psychology Department expands students’ cumulative knowledge base and understanding of psychological methods within an integrated, ethical framework.

Your support enables us to continue in our mission to educate the whole student effectively: integrating the intellectual, behavioral, spiritual, and emotional aspects inherent in the scientific study of behavior, mental processes, and emotion with psychological science applications in order to promote human welfare.

When you make a gift to the Psychology Department today, you will provide the necessary support to:

  • Fund further conference travel for psychology students (South Eastern Psychological Association, Catholic Psychotherapy Association, Central Carolina Conference of Psychology)
  • Purchase additional neurology materials for the Biological Psychology course

Your gift helps to train the next generation of ethical psychologists. Make a gift today to the Psychology Department by using the secure form below!

Politics

The world needs more professionals with a solid background in government and political philosophy, and the Politics Department continues to develop dynamic programs to meet those needs. Currently, the department hosts the Abbey Political Thought Society, which brings speakers to campus, encourages politically relevant discussions, and hosts fun events for election night or the State of the Union. This year Politics plans to continue sending students to regional Moot Court competitions and traveling to DC every semester to access exclusive tours, meet with politicians, and network with International Relations professors based in DC. Politics would love to have the funds to travel to more conferences and competitions, host more events, and support continued faculty development.

When you make a gift to the Politics Department today, you will provide the necessary support to:

  • Bring in relevant and prestigious speakers such as Ross Douthat to enrich the Abbey Political Thought Society
  • Offer students the chance to attend and present at conferences honing their professional skills to secure internships in public service.
  • Send students to Washington, D.C. to meet with politicians, explore internships, and bring their learning directly into the practices of American politics.

“ I am extremely pleased with the education that my son David received from Belmont Abbey. By getting a Psychology degree from a great Liberal Arts institution he has the tools he needs to analyze, reflect upon and articulate thoughts and ideas. And more importantly Belmont Abbey gave him a deeper appreciation for his Catholic Faith. I believe that he is well suited to inspire others and help transform our culture in a way that glorifies God. Thank you Belmont Abbey!”

“The psychology program at Belmont Abbey has empowered me to be able to grow in my understanding of Psychology form many different perspectives. It has also prepared me for graduate level coursework. As president of the psychology club I was able to plan events, go to conferences, and make memories I will never forget.”
